Samudaia

What is Samudaia?

Samudaia is a virtual office for remote and hybrid teams. Everyone shares a 2D office map, presence shows who is online and where, and the rooms on the map are already-running video calls you join by walking in. No meeting links, no invites, no scheduling.

Where the name comes from

Samudaia comes from samudaya (समुदाय), a Sanskrit and Pali word meaning community, gathering, or a coming-together of parts. In Pali it also carries the sense of “arising”: several things assembling into one.

That is close to the argument the product makes. A team is not a set of people who book time with each other; it is a group that is together, and the good parts of working together are the unplanned ones. So the software is a place you are in, not a series of meetings you attend.

Samudaia or Samudaya?

The company and product are spelled Samudaia. The Sanskrit word is conventionally transliterated Samudaya, so a lot of people arrive having typed that instead. Both spellings mean the same thing here, and you are in the right place either way.

What the product actually does

You open your workspace in a browser and you are on your team's office map with everyone else who is working. You can see who is around, who is in a meeting, and who is heads-down. When you want to talk to someone, you walk into a room, and that is the call. Screen sharing, a shared whiteboard and room chat are already there.

Full detail is on the features page, and the pricing page covers what it costs (nothing, to start).

Who makes it

Samudaia is built by a small team who work this way themselves. If you want to ask something the pages here do not answer, contact us. A person reads it.
